Critical analysis
Applied research project, director's folio and portfolio of theatre criticism
Critical analysis skills
Students undertaking any of the critical analysis projects need to have a clear understanding of the written analysis and synthesis demands of these 3 project options before work commences. It may be helpful for student to look back at their achievement and engagement with other written components of the preliminary course to help decide the suitability of these projects.
The areas of critical analysis in the HSC course include applied research, director's folio and theatre criticism.
The Director's Folio will be based on one of the plays on the Text list for Individual Projects, which may be changed by NESA in total or in part every 3-6 years.
Student activity 1
Explore the 3 critical analysis project options by following the links below and completing the student activities. Based on your conversations and learning experiences in Year 11, your teacher might encourage you to explore one specific critical analysis project rather than completing activities for all three options.
