Explore some of the many reasons Batemans Bay Public School should be the first choice for your family when choosing a Kindergarten experience that will set your child up for a life long love of learning:
Each staff member in our school is committed to the statement that each child is known, valued and cared for.
Our Kindergarten classes are kept to a smaller size so that teachers can spend more one-on-one learning time with each child in their first year of school. Each kindergarten class is also assigned a School Learning Support Officer (SLSO) whose role it is to assist the teacher in accelerating the academic growth and supporting the well-being of students.
Our Kindergarten teachers are specialists in supporting early years learning and school transition. They are highly trained and lead by our school’s Curriculum and Instruction Assistant Principal who monitors student progress and provides proactive learning intervention and ongoing staff training and development. Each Kindergarten Teacher is provided with research based professional learning on best practice in teaching literacy for Kindergarten students when joining our Kindergarten Team.
We employ four School Learning Support Officers to work alongside teachers to implement in class early intervention programs. We also have a literacy specialist join our team in semester 2 to support intervention the learning of basic early literacy concepts.
We have a strong culture of ongoing professional development and training for teachers that is based on current educational best practice. Our current areas of focus for professional learning 'explicit teaching practices' and 'effective practices in mathematics K-6'.
BBPS HIVE is a dedicated learning and support centre run by our Assistant Principal - Fiona Norris and is also home to our school’s full time Family Support Worker, OT and Speech programs as well as a range of community wellbeing partners. We are committed to supporting our students and their families.
Every action in our school is underpinned by our three core values:
Respect, Responsibility & Kindness
As a Positive Behaviour for Learning School we bring together the community to develop a positive, safe and supportive learning culture. With PBL we are improving social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for all students.
Our school provides many opportunities for our students to participate in extra curriculum groups and programs. These programs and groups include creative arts, sports, Scripture and ethics.
Each year we hold a range of family and community events at our school.
