SISA

During Term 3, Baulkham Hills North will be implementing the Sport in Schools Australia Athletics program for all students in Years 3-6.

This program is conducted by highly-trained sports teachers with Athletics coaching qualifications, using a range of specialised equipment, Each class's lesson runs for 40 minutes each Tuesday, (commencing Tuesday, 21st July and concluding on Tuesday, 22nd September).

Students will be required to wear their sports uniform each Tuesday during Term 3.

As a result of participation in the SISA Athletics Program, our students will have the opportunity to receive highly specialised training in Athletics skills from the SISA teachers including Martin Smellie, who has represented Australia in Athletics and who is an Athletics NSW elite coach and presenter.

Some of the cost of the program has been offset by a government “Sporting Schools” grant, allowing the first two athletics lessons to be provided to students at no cost to parents/carers.

Please check Signmee for the permission note outlining the costs and permission slip for SISA in Term 3.

Cross Country Results 2020

Congratulations to all students who participated on the day and to those who improved on last year’s performance!

The students demonstrated outstanding behaviour, endurance and sportsmanship. It was a successful day and great to see all students cheering each other on as they ran past.

Primary Athletics Carnival 2020

The school athletics carnival will be held on Tuesday 11th August at the Alfred Henry Whaling Memorial Reserve in Baulkham Hills. All Years 3-6 students are expected to attend and participate on the day. However, if for some reason your child will not be present at a carnival you must ensure the teacher is informed via a note so they are not waiting for them on the day.

All students have the opportunity to participate in the 100m, 200m and long jump.

4x100m House relays will occur if time permits. The teams will be decided on the day based on the best results from the respective houses.

During PE lessons students in Years 3-6 have had the opportunity to do both shot-put and discus. For these events, the top 10 students in each age and gender group will be competing by invitation only.

800m is open to students who have trained in this area and have reached a competent level (can run/jog without stopping). Parents/carers are required to nominate for their child(ren) to compete in the 800m. Students competing in the 800m will be walking early with Mr Trovato on the day.

Please see Signmee for further information and to sign the permission form.

Due to the restrictions put in place for COVID-19 Winter PSSA will not take place in 2020. Summer PSSA is planned to recommence at the end of Term 3 as per usual.
