To use a KWL Chart to show prior knowledge and learning directions

What was life like for Aboriginal Peoples before the arrival of the Europeans?

Invite the students to complete the first two columns of the KWL in their student workbook. This activity will provide the students with the opportunity to brainstorm what they know about the content and key inquiry questions. It will provide a chance to identify incorrect preconceptions and also provide an assessment opportunity after the completion of the ‘Learn’ column after the excursion.
Some prompting questions could be:

How do Aboriginal People use these sites?
How can we protect these sites?
What will the environment look like in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park?
