What is it?
Distance education is available for students who cannot study the course they want (other than a language) in their school. Students need to meet specific guidelines to be eligible for distance education*.

What is it?
NSW School of Languages is a distance education school run by the Department of Education that offers 12 languages for study from Years 9 to 12. Students need to meet specific guidelines to be eligible for external languages*.
How does it work?
The courses are taught in a blended model that includes online coursework (completed at home school) and a weekly speaking lesson (delivered online).

The maximum number of units studied by a student including the distance education course, must not exceed 13 units in the Preliminary course and 11 units for the HSC course.
Participation in external courses is subject to school approval.
