Per KRS 156.557 and 704 KAR 3:370 , all evaluators of certified personnel below the level of superintendent must earn six hours of evaluation training, annually.
The P3 Team is excited to announce that we are facilitating several
6-hour Certified Evaluation Update Trainings for the 2024-25 School Year.
AUDIENCE: All Evaluators of Certified Personnel Districts may design their own Update Training by applying for their own EILA credit. Additionally, KDE and the Principal Partnership Project (P3) has developed tools, resources, and a pre-approved EILA credit option for school districts and Regional Educational Cooperatives. The KY PSEL Professional Learning Modules provide an opportunity to fulfill the requirement through a guided, collaborative learning experiences offered at Regional Educational Cooperatives (if provided), or within your district.
LENGTH: Six (6) Hours
OPTION 1:
Update Training Slide Deck and Resources:
Click here for the resources to lead and facilitate a 6 hour update training for experienced evaluators.
OPTION 2:
Use the slide deck, below, to facilitate a deeper learning around "Engaging Students in Learning" (3C). Districts may choose to use the remaining time to provide training around their district Certified Evaluation Plan (CEP) in which district- specific dates, expectations, and tools may be explained.
Click on the slide deck, at left, to save a copy to your Drive. Then, you may adapt the deck to suit your needs. Facilitator slides may be hidden during the presentation.
All resources and hard copies needed for this guided professional learning are active links on the facilitator slides and/or participant slides.
The design is set up for a face-to-face format.
You might consider the following suggestions for finding additional videos that might support the calibration for evidence aligned with 3C:
OPTION 3:
Use the step-by-step process below, to facilitate a deeper learning around the evaluation standards for principals and assistant principals (PSEL).
1. Access the KY PSEL Professional Learning Series Page. Once there, the first three modules may be utilized as asynchronous, self-directed learning for your leader participants. You might plan for participants to have viewed these ground-level learning modules prior to the collaborative learning experience.
2. View Modules 4, 5, and 6. If you are a leading the training, we suggest viewing Module 6, first. This will provide you with a big picture view before leading modules 4 and 5. These modules are designed for synchronous, collaborative learning. The value of the learning experience will be strengthened by the discussion time allowed, and will be determined by the discussion methods/strategies utilized by the facilitator(s). You may also choose to have the resources accessible to participants for this session, as well.
3. (REVISED, BASED ON USER FEEDBACK) Sample design for the 6-hour Update Training learning experience, with additional 4-6 hour EILA credit:
Asynchronous Learning:
Individually view modules 1, 2, and 3, before collaborative event. (1-2 hours credit)
Collaborative Learning Session:
Module 4 Collaborative Learning (2 hours)
Module 5 Collaborative Learning (2 hours)
Separate, Follow-Up, Embedded Learning with Principals and Principal Supervisors:
According to feedback from superintendents, Module 6 may be most beneficial to superintendents, viewed prior to leading discussions about evaluation with principals and assistant principals. Then, choose segments of the video to embed throughout the year to facilitate with school leaders after they have completed the first 5 modules.
Module 6 Collaborative Learning (4-6 hours Additional EILA credit)
4. Click here to access the EILA application site, if you want to apply for 6 evaluation EILA hours.)
