Please note, while the national, Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL), must be the required criteria named in all certified evaluation plans for the evaluation of principals and assistant principals, the accompanying KY PSEL Guidance for Growth and Evaluation tool is optional. *The KY PSEL Guidance for Growth and Evaluation tool IS AVAILABLE, NOW!  Please see, below. 

Updated Possible Examples for Standards 3, 5, & 8 

The Kentucky PSEL Guidance for Growth and Evaluation Tool has a 2023 update.   A diverse group of stakeholders worked extensively to develop possible examples by element for Standards 3, 5, & 8.  The update also includes embedded hyperlinks that are designed to provide easy access to best practice ideas and spark thinking about meaningful implementation of the PSEL.  

Keep in mind, the Possible Examples serve as possibilities of what the element MIGHT look like in practice.  There are endless ways the standard's intent could be demonstrated.  The provided examples are intended to promote thinking around authentic aspects of the school leader's work.  Districts are encouraged to use the Tool as a springboard for internal discussions  regarding local expectations for principals/assistant principals.  

Work groups are currently developing updated Possible Examples for Standards 4 & 10.  They will be released in 2024. 

Professional Learning Series Modules:

• Guidance for utilizing these modules to lead collaborative learning that fulfills Update Certified Evaluation Training for experienced administrators, as required by 704 KAR 3:370 may be accessed by clicking here (Update Training Info).

• Modules 1, 2, 3 provide detailed information about the KY PSEL Guidance for Growth & Evaluation tool. They may be viewed asynchronously.

• Modules 4, 5, 6 are intended for leadership team, synchronous, collaborative learning.  Click here for additional support to districts and regional cooperatives in using these modules to provide the required, six (6) hours of Update Evaluation Training 

The Module 1 video (17:30) and accompanying slide deck and script provide information regarding necessary changes to district Certified Evaluation Plans (CEPs), highlights the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL), and includes an overview of the KY PSEL Guidance for Growth & Evaluation.

MODULE 2 (Performance Levels) provides a closer look at the KY PSEL Growth & Evaluation tool, specific to the four performance levels: Ineffective, Developing, Accomplished, and Exemplary.

• MODULE 3 (Critical Attributes and Possible Examples) continues the learning about the KY PSEL Growth & Evaluation tool to explore the structure and content of the resource. The majority of the module involves detailed examinations of two sections in the tool: Critical Attributes and Possible Examples.
