Staffing Updates

It is that season. Many of you have already shared updates with me (thank you!). If you are retiring, congratulations! Please let me know so I can edit my statewide directory of school librarians. If you are moving to a new school or district, I'd love that information, too! Send all the updates to james.allen@education.ky.gov

Professional Learning

First: Boss Librarian PD (registration for this one closes today!) Register here! I’m not sure exactly how PD certificates will be handled, but it was a self-serve system in previous years. I don’t think there is a requirement to do all the sessions or days, but don’t quote me.

Next: Canva Librarians Virtual Showcase. August 3, 2024. Visit this site to register (it’s towards the bottom).

Last… Thanks to KET, we’ve had access to School Library Connection for a few years. Unfortunately, they have ceased publication and are not adding new content. However, Bloomsbury Libraries Unlimited is offering the archives of SLC to everyone free of charge. There are so, so many great articles, but there are also webinars and self-paced workshops that you could use for professional development hours.

AASL Saint Louis October 16-18 national.aasl.org 2025

Save the date!

I know it seems far off... but go ahead and mark these dates. This is OUR national conference, which only happens once every two years, and this one is driveable for many of us here in Kentucky! October 16-18, 2025

With enough time to plan, strategize, and make arrangements, your district/school may be able to help get you and your colleagues to this awesome professional learning opportunity. I will share all the information and links as soon as the call for proposals goes out.

Summer Reading

I'm sure you have tons of resources, but here are two, just in case.

Shannon Miller has been sharing these for a couple of years. It includes lots of resources and links to FREE ebooks. Here's the link to the slides

KDE also has a page with summer learning resources. Check those out here
