Kentucky has 164 full-time and 396 part-time Digital Learning Coaches representing 147 districts (as of Sept. 10, 2021).
Works closely with the DTC/CIO and the Principal to implement and help share the vision of how technology will be implemented in the classroom.
Assists teachers in maximizing the effective use of technology for learning, differentiating instruction, and providing rigorous, relevant, and engaging learning experiences for all students.
Digital Learning Coaches provide a vital real time professional learning role for district-by-district (or school-by-school) customized digital learning strategies tied to structured learning experience design, digital workflow, digital relationship, digital collaboration and student-design digital products. All of which are tied to remote and distance learning.
The Digital Learning Coach is always looking for the latest insights and strategies on instructional technologies, personalized learning materials and pedagogical methods to mentor and coach educators in their district - providing seamless movement between blended (traditional and digital) designs.
Recognized positions performing this vital role are sometimes titled: Technology Resources Teacher (TRT), Technology Integration Specialists (TIS), School Technology Coach (STC), and Instructional Coach. This work is 100% about the work and not about titles.
Library Media Specialists are information and education technology specialists.
Approximately 75% of Kentucky K-12 schools have a full-time library media specialist (as of November 1, 2020). Every school district in Kentucky has at least one library media specialist.
These educators are experts at curating instructional resources, instructing and assisting with digital tools, and most importantly, helping students and teachers find and use the best information available for all content areas and curriculums.
Library media specialists are exactly that. Specialists in information, literature, and learning. Lean on these experts to help your students, teachers, and families.
KY CIO's are contracted for an average of 235 days and 82% report directly to the superintendent*
Ninety-two percent (92%) of KY teachers report they are encouraged to use technology for teaching and learning by school leaders.
Fifty-one percent (51%) of KY teachers report the quality of instructional technology planning support as Average or below.
Seventy-nine percent (79%) of KY teachers report wanting to learn more about effective technology use for teaching and learning.
