A roadmap in the Bhutan Baccalaureate is a plan of action for an individual, group, domain, coordinator, and the school at large. Technically, it consists of important components such as goal, action plan, indicators of success, skills, processes and watermarks within the purview of the Five Areas of Development in a given period of time. The following are the types of roadmap created in our school:
1. Individual Roadmap
An Individual Roadmap in the Bhutan Baccalaureate is a personalized learning plan created by both educators and learners that outlines their goals, action plans, indicators of success, skills, processes and watermarks, across the Five Areas of Development. It serves as a guiding document to help all educators and learners take ownership of their learning journey for both personal and professional growth.
2. Group Roadmap
A Group Roadmap is a collaborative plan used in mentor-mentee groups during group mentoring sessions. After learners create their Individual Roadmaps, mentors gather common goals from the Five Areas of Development to form the Group Roadmap. This roadmap guides group activities, fosters peer learning, and helps track shared progress. It ensures that mentoring sessions are focused, supportive, and responsive to the group’s needs.
3. Domain Roadmap
A Domain Roadmap is a plan used to prepare and organize the learning experiences for a specific subject. It brings together the goals, concepts, skills, processes, and watermarks within that domain to guide teachers in designing meaningful lessons and activities. By aligning learning experiences with the roadmap, educators ensure that students progressively develop the required competencies in the subject area.
4. Five Area Roadmap
The Five Area Roadmaps in the Bhutan Baccalaureate represent detailed plans for learner development across the five areas of development: cerebral, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual. Each roadmap integrates relevant goals, action plans, success indicators, skills, processes, watermarks, and learning experiences tailored to support balanced growth in that specific area. Together, these roadmaps guide educators in designing comprehensive learning activities and assessments, ensuring learners develop holistically throughout their educational journey.
5. School Roadmap
The School Roadmap is a comprehensive plan that consolidates the goals, action plans, success indicators, skills, processes, and watermarks identified from individual, group, domain, and five area roadmaps across the entire school. It provides a unified vision and direction for the school’s teaching and learning practices, ensuring alignment with the Bhutan Baccalaureate framework.
