Winter is cold in some places. Many plants do not grow during winter. Some plants die. Snow and ice may cover the ground. It can be hard for animals to find food during winter. Animals get through this time in many ways.
Birds and butterflies can fly. Many of them do not stay for the winter. They leave. They go to a place with nice weather. Then they come home in the spring. We call this migration. Migrating is a good way to avoid the cold.
Another good way to avoid the cold is to sleep through it. Many animals hide during the winter. Their bodies slow down. They save their energy. They do not eat. They live off their fat. They do this until food returns. We call this hibernation. Snakes, frogs and bears hibernate.
Some animals store food in their homes. They do not sleep all winter, but they do much less. They live on what they saved in the summer and fall. This is what squirrels, beavers, and raccoons do. Skunks do this, too.

The Lake District National Park is one of fourteen National Parks in the United Kingdom. It lies entirely within Cumbria, and is one of England's few mountainous regions. All the land in England higher than three thousand feet above sea level lies within the Park. The Lakes, as the region is also called, were made famous during the early 19th century by the poetry and writings of William Wordsworth and the Lake Poets.
The Lake District is about 34 miles (55 km) across (north-to-south or west-to-east). Its features are a result of periods of glaciation, the most recent of which ended some 15000 years ago. The ice carved wide U-shaped valleys, many of which are now filled with the lakes that give the park its name. The upper regions contain a number of glacial cirques, which are typically filled with tarns. The higher fells are rocky, with lower fells being open moorland, notable for its wide bracken and heather coverage. Below the tree line native oak woodlands sit alongside nineteenth century pine plantations. Much of the land is often boggy, due to the high rainfall.

Do you like video games? Lots of people do. There are many types of video games. Some people like action games. Other people like driving games. But the most popular game of all time is a puzzle game.
Tetris is a game about making lines. Blocks fall from the topo of the screen. They fall one at a time. The player moves the blocks. Once the blocks hit the bottom, they are locked in place. Players try to make lines go across the screen with no gaps. Complete lines disappear. This gives players more room. The blocks pile up during the game. The game ends when the blocks get to the top of the screen.
A man named Alexey made Tetris in 1984. All the pieces in Tetris have four blocks. The word "tetra" means four. Alexey named his game after tetra and tenis. He made tetris while working at a science academy in Moscow. Moscow is in Russia.
Alexey made his game on a screen that only showed letters. he coould not use blocks. The blocks were made out of letters in the first game of Tetris. Still, all Alexey's friends loved his game. It was easy to learn and fun to play.

The Masai are an African tribe of about half a million people. Most of them live in the country of Kenya, but they are also nomadic. Groups of Masai also live in other parts of east Africa, including north Tanzania and they move their animals (cows, sheep and goats) to different areas of the region.
There are other African tribes but, for many people, the Masai are the most well-known. They are famous for their bright red clothing and their ceremonies that include lots of music and dancing. Probably, one of the most colourful ceremonies is the festival of "Eunoto". This is a rite of passage when the teenage boys of the Masai become men.
"Eunoto" lasts for many days and Masai people travel across the region to get to a special place near the border between Kenya and Tanzania. The teenage boys who travel with them are called "warriors". This is a traditional name from the past when young men fought with other tribes. Nowadays, these wariiors spend most of their time looking after cattle.

Food in the British Isles
Perhaps the biggest difference between Britain and Spain is what people like to eat and how they prepare their food. The British normally only have two courses at their main meal. The main course often consists of meat, fish or chicken with vegetables and potatoes, all served together on the same plate. Traditionally, the cooking of these ingredients is very plain, without garlic, onion or other things to make the food taste nicer. However, because so many people travel nowadays and there are so many people from different parts of the world living in the British lsles, lndian, Chinese and ltalian food has become very popular, and people may have a pasta or a rice dish for their main course. But when it comes to desserts, the British are very conservative. Rather than eating fruit or yogurt, people like to have a proper dessert, often made with fruit or with chocolate and accompanied by cream. In fact, when Spaniards complain about the cooking in England, they are usually not referring to the desserts, because everyone seems to enjoy those!

Is it visible?
Experts say it is unlikely to be visible, but that many areas could enjoy a spectacular sunset. Eruptions usually created what experts call a 'volcanic aerosol' - a colourful mixture of ash and sulphur compounds - in the stratosphere. This scatters an invisible blue glow which, when mixed with the red light of the setting sun, produces a 'volcanic lavender', or vivid crimson/violet hue.
Why does it affect planes?
Not only can volcanic ash reduce visibility for pilots, but it can cause jet engines to fail, and one of the biggest difficulties facing flight crews is the problem of distinguishing ash clouds from ordinary clouds, both visually and on radar.
