The labour market in Europe is undergoing many changes. There are huge shortages of skilled workers in areas such as health care and in technical disciplines. On the other hand many people are not in work or are in jobs at risk. Vocational education is more and more recognized by the Commission and by individual member states as the key player in dealing with these shortages and with mismatches.
In order to fulfill this role as the key supplier of the changing labour market, a number of key issues have to be tackled by society, governments and by individual VET centres. These are for example raising the image of VET in society, making courses more state of art, creating more flexibility in the system, increasing autonomy of VET schools and implementing lifelong learning in a meaningful way.
The NAVE2 network is dedicated to looking at these issues from a multi-national/European perspective in order to support the individual NAVE2 member to make the changes necessary to provide high quality innovative vocational education and training to youngsters and adults alike.
