Purpose

The purpose of this mini site is to give teachers a clearer idea of projects, workshops, tournaments and other initiatives carried out within the Bilingual Programme at IES Cervantes in Madrid.

IES cervantes

1. It’s a bilingual high school with two types of groups: Sección (Advanced English) and Programa (Standard English).

Secondary education: from 12 years old up to 18 years old.

Compulsory education up to 4º ESO (16 years old)

Upper secondary education 1º and 2º Bachillerato (before college)

2. Two shifts and two different types of students:

Morning-afternoon shift: from 8:15 a.m to 15:05 p.m (55’ periods)

Inclusiveness. Special groups: Diversificación (2nd and 3rd ESO); one or two students with special needs per group.

Afternoon-evening shift: from 16:00 p.m to 21:00 p.m., mainly students from dance schools; (50’ periods). All the groups in this shift are Programa or Standard English groups.

For all teachers in the bilingual section: please provide your schedules with the classes taught in English to complete the productivity form.
For new teachers at the school: introduction to IES Cervantes programmes, projects, and activities in the bilingual section.
