Our Rights Reps are working hard towards our Silver Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA). Our group, currently made up of pupils and staff, will soon be looking for community volunteers to join us as we help raise awareness of rights and ensure they are embedded not only in our school policies but throughout our daily life. Our plan is to encourage a rights-respecting culture in Whitecraig.
We lead fun initiatives such as assemblies, class discussions, and campaigns, encouraging pupil voice and participation. Our group contributes to creating an inclusive environment where every child’s rights are understood, respected, and upheld.
Group Update:
Our UP group have had a busy few weeks as our Silver Plan comes into action. We focussed on children’s mental health awareness and spoke at our school assembly to ensure everyone knows what to look out for and how they can help someone struggling with their mental health as well as their physical health. We have also been developing pupil and family questionnaires to measure current awareness of the UNCRC across our school and community and finally we have been busy updating some of our important school documents to make them more child friendly.
