Context of the school
Whitecraig Primary School is a non-denominational, co-educational school serving the village of Whitecraig and surrounding area. The new school building opened its doors for the first time in January 2026. It is a modern facility built over two floors. There are seven classrooms, a Nursery, a Support for Learning Room, Library, a large double gym hall and an open plan dining room. The school has its own kitchen staff who provide freshly cooked meals.
The current school roll, correct as of June 2026, is 120, P1 to P7. With an additional 32 learners in the nursery. This number is significantly larger than previous years due to the increased nursery space in the new building. Whitecraig has a population of approximately 1,300 inhabitants (correct as of 2022 census) although this is growing as the surrounding area is undergoing a period of extensive housebuilding.
In the session 25/26, the school had 7 single stream classes. The school staffing for 25/26 consists of a Head Teacher, a Principal Teacher, 5 full time teachers and 4 part time teachers one of whom is currently in the role of a Support for Learning Teacher. We have a visiting teacher who teaches Music. We have a Pupil and Family Support Worker and three Additional Support Needs Auxiliaries. In the school office we have a full time Business Support Administrator and a school auxiliary. In the Nursery we have a Senior Early Year Practitioner and four full time Early Years Practitioners. We also have a part time Support Worker in the Nursery. We also have two janitors.
Community
The community continues to grow, with new families moving into additional housing. As a result, the school roll has increased by 13 learners compared to the previous academic session. The school is in a good position to accommodate further learners as we have space at every stage.
Welcome to Whitecraig Primary School.
At Whitecraig, we believe that education is about so much more than academic success. It is about developing confident, caring and capable young people who feel valued, included and inspired to achieve their very best. As a village school, we are proud to sit at the heart of our community, working closely with families, local organisations and community partners to create a strong sense of belonging for every child.
In January 2026, we began an exciting new chapter in our school's history when we moved into our wonderful new school building. This exceptional learning environment has provided our children with modern, inspiring spaces in which to learn, play and thrive, while also giving our whole school community a renewed sense of pride in Whitecraig Primary School. Although our building has changed, the values that make our school special have remained the same.
Our dedicated staff team is passionate about nurturing every child’s potential and fostering a love of learning that will stay with them throughout their lives. We recognise that every child is unique, bringing their own strengths, interests and aspirations, and we strive to ensure that all learners feel supported, challenged and celebrated.
At the heart of everything we do are our school values of Honesty, Kindness and Respect. These values help shape our relationships, guide our decisions and create the positive culture that we are so proud of. We want every child to feel safe, happy and confident, knowing that they are part of a school community that cares for and supports one another.
We strongly believe that children achieve their best when school and home work together. Open communication and positive partnerships with families are central to our approach, and we greatly value the support, encouragement and involvement of our parents, carers and the wider community.
As Head Teacher, I am committed to ensuring that every child receives a high-quality education and the opportunities they need to flourish academically, socially and emotionally. Together, we aim to provide a learning journey that equips our children with the knowledge, skills and values they need to succeed in an ever-changing world.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. We look forward to welcoming you to Whitecraig Primary School and to working in partnership with you as we support your child on their learning journey.
Warm regards,
