We spent our time today reading familiar stories to our friends. We looked at the pictures and retold the stories in our own way.Β
We then had some free time creating dens and using materials independently.

We celebrated pancake day this week. We helped measure out the ingredients and mix them together. We then enjoyed tasting them for snack alongside some bananas and strawberries πππ₯
This morning we went on a walk in our community. We have been exploring recycling and reusing, so we looked at the different bins we can use. We also went on a letter hunt and spotted lots of different letters.

We had lots of fun exploring in the snow this morning. We tried to make our own snow angels πβοΈπ¨οΈ

We have been exploring looking after our nursery environment. We made some binoculars to search for the birds, filled up our bird feeders and made some bird baths for the birds. We then used the litter pickers to clean up the garden. π₯π¦πͺΆποΈ

We have been exploring repeating pattens.We used cotton buds and paint to make patterns. We also explored using the coloured fruit to make our own repeating patterns. π¨πππποΈ
We have been exploring patterns with different media in nursery this week. Using sand, salt and glitter. πππ€π

We spoke about all things Scottish. We learnt some scottish words, made tartan pictures, listened to scottish songs/poems, and tried some highland dancing.Β
We were very lucky and some of the children from P3/4 came to nursery to recite some scottish poems!Β

We had lots of fun in the rain today. We made our own waterfall by collecting rain water and pouring it down the guttering. π¦π§οΈβοΈ
We put some water in the freezer on Friday and collected today. We then explored the ice and spoke out how it felt.

This week we have been drawing self portraits! We used our fine motor skills to hold and use a pen effectively with a preferred hand. πͺβοΈ
Β Some of our self portraits are on show in the nursery room (on the wall). If they are not on show on the wall they will be in your childs Learning book.

We would like to wish all our families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ππ πβ€οΈ
When we return to nursery in January we will have changed how we do self registration and children will move their name from home to nursery in the cloakroom. We will then focus on feelings in the playroom using the zones of regulation which is used in school and will allow the children to change their feelings during the day and for staff and children to explore regulation tools together as our feelings change throughout the day.Β

As part of our engagement with books we have been looking at different ways to retell stories. We used our outdoor learning time to go on a Bear Hunt! π§Έππ

We enjoyed our first session of outdoor learning this week and made our way round the school to the wooded area.ππ§οΈπ·οΈπ«
We spoke about how to keep ourselves safe whilst in here and came up with lots of great answers! Together we set out our own boundary - using red and white tape.Β
