1. What are the school opening and closing times? (and lunchtimes)
Nursery- Drop off times are 8.15am-8.30am, 8.45am-9am
Collection times are 3.15pm-3.30pm, 4.15-4.30pm, 5pm onwards
If you arrive out with these times please press the buzzer (you may have to wait slightly longer, however if no answer go to the school office).
P1 & P2 - School begins at 9am-10.30am
Break 10.30am-10.45am, class resumes 10.45am-12.15am
Lunch 12.15-1pm, class resumes 1pm-2.50pm end of day
P3-P7- School begins at 8.50am-10.30am
Break 10.30am-10.45am, class resumes 10.45am-12.15am
Lunch 12.15-1pm, class resumes 1pm-3.15pm end of day

3. How do I order school uniforms?
Stoneyhill uniforms can be ordered through Gannon Sports.

Nursery jumpers, school ties or school badges can be purchased directly from the school office.
4. What is the school uniform guidance?
Green or purple sweatshirt with school badge
Green, purple or white polo shirt (with or without school badge)
Black trousers or Skirt
5. How do I pay for trips/milk/meals?
Parents use East Lothian’s online payment system 🔗 - Schoolpay/Ipay
Trip details will be sent home with your child giving you full details including any payments needed.
Milk letters are sent home termly to offer parents to pay for milk for the next term. You will also have the opportunity to pay for the whole year at the beginning of term 1.
You can view the meals available to your child each day on the ipay system, where you can also make selections and process payments (P1-5 receive free meals P6 and P7 children will require a payment)

6. How do I report an absence?
Absences should be reported through the school office at:

There is an option to press to leave a message via voicemail system.
7. How long should my child stay off school after being sick?
If your child has vomiting and/or diarrhoea, they should be kept off school until 48 hours after their symptoms have completely stopped. This means 48 hours since the last episode of sickness or diarrhoea, and they should also be well enough to return.
This guidance comes from Public Health Scotland’s national advice on infection control in children and young people settings.
8. How do I change my contact details or address?

9. How do I notify the school of new allergies or medical information?
Parents should come to the school office and ask for a medication form and complete it.
10. Can my child bring their mobile phone? How is it stored?
Children can bring their phone if necessary, this is handed into class teacher at the beginning of the day. Phones are put into a box and this is taken to the school office and secured for the day. They will be handed back out, on the end of day bell.

12. How do I contact/speak to my child’s teacher?
The most suitable time to chat with a teacher is at the end of the day, after all of their class has been dismissed.
If you require a longer discussion then please contact the office to make an appointment.

Please do not contact teacher's directly via email. They are not desk based and therefore will not have access to emails regularly.
13. What is the school’s communication policy?
There are various ways in which we may communicate with you, these include the following:

14. How do I enrol my child in the Nursery / School?
Enrolment follows East Lothian Council’s school admissions process. Please apply via ELC’s website or contact the Stoneyhill office for guidance.
15. What do I do if my child can’t log in to Google Classroom?
Ask the class teacher at collection time.

16. What is the school’s homework policy?
All classes will receive regular homework. This will vary depending on the classes needs. Some classes will have jotters and worksheets where as other will be shared on Google Classroom. 17. How do I support or get more involved with the school?

18. What are regular Stoneyhill events?
Each year we have various different events that run and are well attended. These include, Easter Bonnet Parade, The Summer Fayre, The Pumpkin Parade and The Santa Run. Please find details below for what to expect.
The Easter Bonnet Parade
To celebrate Easter, our pupils are all welcome to decorate/create an Easter Bonnet. They then wear it and parade around our local community. This take place in the form of a 'walking bus' that begins at Whitehill Bus stop collecting any pupils and families on the way. We walk round past the COP and end in the school grounds. Our JRSOs then judge the bonnets and award prizes!
Summer Fayre
Stoneyhill's Summer Fayre is always a huge hit! The parent council plan relentlessly to make this a fantastic event for our children and families. You can expect food, fun, music and even animals. All funds are donated to the school.
The Pumpkin Parade
To celebrate Halloween all children are invited to decorate a pumpkin and join us on the 'Pumpkin Parade'. This takes place in the form of a 'walking bus' that begins at Whitehill Bus stop collecting any pupils and families on the way. We walk round past the COP and end in the school grounds. Our JRSOs then judge the pumpkins and award prizes!
The Santa Run
Our active parent council organise an annual Santa Run for our children and families to enjoy. Each class is given a time slot in which their teacher will bring them outside to run/walk around the grounds. Parents are welcome to watch and ae encouraged to join in. Children are allowed to wear Christmas jumpers/accessories and the aim is have some fun! Afterwards, families are invited into the dining hall for drinks, a bake sale and toy swap. Although as all Stoenyhill bake sales go...if you are not fast you are last! Our excellent parent's bakes sell super quick!
Coffee Mornings
Our SLT (Senior Leadership Team) orgnaise regular, end of term coffee mornings for our children and families. You are welcome into the gym hall for a free tea/coffee/drink. These take place on the last day before the end of each term (roughly). They begin before the end of the school day and run on after the end of day bell, this means you can bring your child along afterwards too. It's a great chance to chat to other parents and SLT.
