Week beginning 9th of October. Another varied week for Primary 5D. We started the week with a drama session which the class loved. We have learned lots about the building of the Titanic and the contrasts between luggage you would take on a journey now and in 1912. This week we did some super writing about going on the maiden voyage of the Titanic. We started learning about angles and the different types, designed, coloured and painted our Cauliflower Christmas cards which look fantastic - you will have them home to look at after the October holiday. We hope everyone has a brilliant, relaxing holiday and we look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday the 24th of October.
Here is a short video of our Autumn leaves art which are hanging in our classroom.
Week beginning 2nd of October - It's been a really busy time in Primary 5D. We started the week with our first trip to Amisfield garden as part of our John Muir Award work. We had quite a long walk there and back but it was worth it! We found out about many of the different trees in the garden from Erin the lady in charge of Amisfield. She got us busy after lunch raking leaves and exploring other parts of the garden. We all got to pick our own apples to eat from some of the beautiful fruit trees.
On Wednesday we had a visit from a local author, Val Pellat who spoke to us about her stories and illustrations. We wrote super stories on Thursday about what we thought Coco the dog might have done next to help Val to finish her story. We are going to share our ideas with Val.
Here are photos of something we made as a class at the start of the school year. They are to illustrate how all of us are part of our class circle.
A busy week in P5D 🙂
Mrs P and Mrs B continue to be delighted with our class who show such enthusiasm for every thing.
Today they were particularly delighted to make 2D and 3D shapes using sticks and mini marshmallows.
Of course the mini marshmallows disappeared after our activities! 🙂
We have been doing lots of work on Growth Mindset, introducing our John Muir topic, spelling, and Place Value.
Week beginning 4th September -
This week we have been enjoying our active spelling tasks to learn our spelling words for the week.
We've done quite a lot of writing short texts, work on place value, 3D shapes, Growth Mindset and revising our colours in French. The class really enjoyed their second rugby taster session and we had the excitement of swimming assessments this week.
We continue to be delighted with how keen our class are to work hard and play hard.
Week beginning 18th September.
This week we have been continuing our work on Place Value, 3D Shapes, Writing, Grammar and Reading.
We started our new class novel 'Survivor Titanic' by Stephen Davies, which has made us all curious about our next Topic which we will start next week!
As the weather became more Autumnal we turned our thoughts to our favourite things about Autumn and wrote about them. Some pupils wrote acrostic Autumn poems.
We enjoyed starting our Autumn leaf art using patterns, and felt tips. Next week we will add a little paint and mount them to decorate our classroom.
