(A whole new world...of German!)
Look for new ways to explore language and make it fun to learn! Disney cartoons, for example, are translated into so many different languages....and I'm sure a lot of you have favourite Disney songs from your childhood that you probably know all the words to. Why not have a look for their German translations and start singing along? You'd be amazed how quickly your languages skills and vocabulary grow!
If you find a fun way to learn German, please share it on your google classroom so others can learn from it too...
Alongside your S3 German google classroom, this site will help guide you through your S3 German course. It is designed to keep all of your learning resources in one place so that you know where to find resources when you need them.
Choosing to study German in S3 means that there is a big chance you may choose to take it again in S4 to gain a qualification in the language. As such, the S3 course is fun, but with a serious edge, in order to prepare you for S4. Obviously, starting a language from the very beginning in S3 means you will have to commit to vocab learning, and we will strive to show you fun and effective ways to do this and to learn your new language!
You will develop all four skills (reading, listening, talking and writing), with a focus on using the language correctly and on creating your own language to say what you want to say.
The four main contexts of language that we will study are Society, Culture, Education and Employability. In order to focus learning, we target these key topic areas in S3 German:
Personal Information and Introductory Language
Friends, Family and Relationships, including Household Chores
Where I Live
School
Free Time and Technology
We will also watch at least one German language film throughout the course, perhaps even two. Films are such a fun, relaxing way to bring the language to life and they definitely have a place in all our language courses!
Please save this site as a favourite so that you know where to access all the resources you will need to make the best of your S3 German course.
Finally, I would like to thank all those hard-working teachers who have been generous enough to make their work shareable for others to use, some of which you will undoubtedly see throughout this class site.
I hope you enjoy learning German!
