Higher Philosophy is solely exam based. There is no timed assignment component to complete which means that your grade is determined by your performance in the two exam papers
Paper 1
Is the essay writing paper, you will write two essays in total. One essay will be in relation to the philosophy of knowledge, the second paper will be in relation to moral philosophy.
Paper 2
This paper comprises of shorter questions raging from 1-6 marks. This paper encompasses all of the topics you will explore in Higher philosophy.
Higher Philosophy Topics
Arguments in Action - Developing your knowledge and understanding of arguments as well as your ability to analyse and evaluate them.
Knowledge and Doubt - Exploring the philosophy of knowledge, epistemology. You will study, and explore relevant criticisms of, rationalist and empiricist philosophies by reading the texts of Descartes and Hume
Moral Philosophy - Investigating different approaches to normative ethics. You will analyse different philosophical applications to moral situations by exploring Kant's deontological moral theory and utilitarianism as a consequentialist theory.
