Dear Parents and carers,
We are looking forward to participating in World Book Day events in school on Thursday 3rd March 2022. We have lots of fun activities planned for your children. We are encouraging pupils if they wish to dress up as their favourite book character. There is absolutely no obligation to dress up. Please note our nursery Monday/Tuesday group will celebrate World Book Day on Monday 7th March and can dress up on this date if they would like to.
World Book Day celebrates the joy and value of books and reading, especially for children. To help get them started on their reading journey, every child receives a £1 World Book Day Book Token that they can swap for a free book – there are 12 books to choose from or they can get £1 of a book of their choice.
You can access World Book Day resources to have fun together with your child at home following the link:

Dear Parents and Carers
Now that December has arrived, the festive spirit has certainly hit the nursery. The children have enjoyed decorating the Christmas tree and there is great suspense opening the advent calendar each day. There are lots of Christmas activities taking place throughout the nursery creating lots of festive cheer and very happy and excited children.
There are a few dates and some important information that we would like to make you aware of –
· Christmas Parties
The Mon/Tue group will be having their party on Tuesday 14th December and the Wed/Thu group will have their party on Thursday 16th December. The children will attend nursery as normal, at the usual times. Children can come to nursery in the morning dressed in their party clothes for the parties that will be held in the afternoon after lunch. Children will be collected at the normal nursery times.
· Christmas Singalong
Unfortunately due to our Covid guidance we are unable to invite you to join us in nursery for our annual Christmas singalong. However, we do not want our children or our adults missing out on this experience so we will continue to hold this event which we will record and post on our nursery website for you all to enjoy. Please continue to check the website weekly for nursery news and updates.
· The wider community
The nursery children have been learning about the spirit of Christmas in a variety of ways. We have extended this into our local community to help develop their understanding of caring, sharing and being thankful. The children have made Christmas cards with lovely messages which the Community Kitchen will give out on Christmas day. We are preparing a hamper to give to our local day centre with lots of lovely baking by our children. We are also going to share our singalong recording with them.
· Christmas Holidays
The school closes for Christmas on Friday 17th December. Due to the nursery operating the extended hours it will remain open on Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd , however your child can only attend if you have signed up to these days via the local authority.
The school and nursery all return on Wednesday 5th January.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support throughout this year and wish you all a very merry Christmas and a safe and healthy new year.
Best wishes
Sally Murray (DHT) and the nursery team

We are looking forward to supporting Children in Need this year in school. On Friday the 13th of November we are having.
We are encouraging children and staff to come to school in their ‘feel good’ clothes (whatever they feel comfy in).
The children will take part in ‘feel good’ activities throughout the day and will be provided with a Pudsey snack treat from our PTA – cookies and a drink of orange juice. If you would not like your child to have this then please let their teacher know. An alternative snack will be provided for children with allergies. We would really appreciate any donations towards the fantastic charity which helps millions of children in the UK every year. We do however appreciate that we are in difficult times and do not want families to feel any pressure to donate. If you would like to donate, you can do this via the Children in Need website. We are not collecting money in school this year due to the current circumstances.
Please note, the nursery class will take part on Thursday 12th November and Monday 16th November.
Thank you for your support!

The Nursery Team
Dear Parent/Carer,
You will by now have been given a log in information for SchoolPay. This is the system used by Haddington Primary School to choose lunches, pay school trips, pay snack money etc. We would ask that you take the time to set this up if you haven’t already done so. If you need a log in or are having issues with the system, please contact the school office on 01620823271.
After the October break you will be given the option for your child to have a hot or cold lunch from school. This must be chosen using the SchoolPay system before 9am each morning or in advance for the following week.
When logging into the SchoolPay system you will find a section for Snack. This cost is for the snacks your child gets throughout the year. This can either be paid in one go or by instalments. If paying by instalments please let the nursery team know.
Many Thanks
The Haddington Primary Nursery Team
