Let’s make friends

Finland

Once I read an article about what the secret of a happy life is.

And this article said, that all you need for a fulfilled life, are friends and social contacts.

For an exchange student it’s essential to make friends and not only with the thought of a fulfilled life but because they are there for you while your adventure abroad, they can show you their way of life. And mostly because you can have friends all around the world after your time abroad.

If everybody has got a friend in another part of the world, we maybe also become more appreciative and considerate for other cultures. And that really can’t harm our world.

So let’s make friends all around the world. For a considerate world and a fulfilled life!

Germany

That article really inspired me. Finding new friends is a real challenge. I don´t have that many REAL friends and most don´t attend my school. Making friends is not an easy thing to do, I guess. You need to be open-minded and friendly , I think and you have to be likeable, pleasant, you know. People are easily bored by too much small talk, so you should be ready to open up and deal with topics openly. You should talk about interests and hobbies honestly. Do not be shy, try to be relaxed and talkative.

And do not panic, everything is okay, because the other kids will have to struggle with the same emotions as you. Maybe you could find some common interest, join a project or so to better connect with people alike. The most important thing is not to be clingy. Clingy people are nerving and nobody likes them. I´m going to find new friends, I´m sure. Perhaps I ´ll meet some during the project. Perhaps it´s you.

Italy

You always have to remember that when you arrive in a new country, in a new school, people may not be interest in knowing you because they already have their lives, their friends and hobbies. It's up to you to go and make them feel comfortable with you. It's up to you also let them understand why you are an interesting person, and that is good for an international student because is also a way to discover yourself and know you better. You are alone, far away from you securities, your friends and your family and you have to recreate a new life. It's a hard challenge, but it will increase your skills, your qualities, and let you be a better person for your future.

Bulgaria

Friendship is one of the best things that can happen to us. It is awesome to connect with people from another country and get to know their culture, traditions and language. The more friends you have, the more you learn about the world. And the most exciting thing is that we have the chance to meet people from other countries with different lifestyle, which broadens our mind and perspective. I don’t think that any of these things would be possible without the incredible opportunity given to us by Erasmus+.
