ISA Open day
ISA open its doors to high school students. The visiting students had the opportunity to get to know ISA and its various courses and get in close contact with the institute's professors, researchers, employees, and students. CIFC was also present with an exposition of several coffee species and a brief introduction to the most important coffee disease, Coffee Leaf Rust, caused by the fungus Hemileia vastatix. CIFC (Coffee Rust Research Center) opens its doors and welcomes young people (ages 16-18) to participate in interactive laboratory programs during summer vacations promoted by Ciência Viva agency:

The School of Agriculture (ISA) of the University of Lisbon promoted a great initiative to bring closer Ph.D. students (enroll in this institute) and researchers. In a very active and fun peddy-paper, ISA's Ph.D. students visited several research centers hosted on the ISA's campus. Ph.D. students had the chance to be introduced to the research centers in ISA and understand more about the research that is being done. CIFC (Coffee Rusts Research Center) was one of the research centers to participate in this outreach activity. July 1st, 2022
58ª Feira Nacional de Agricultura (FNA) - National agriculture fair - 2022
The school of Agriculture (Instituto Superior de Agronomia) participated on the 58th agriculture fair (58ª Feira Nacional de Agricultura FNA) 2022, in Santarém (Portugal). The ISA's research centers were invited to promote their latest projects. 4th-12nd of June, 2022.
The Linking Landscape Environment Agriculture and Food (LEAF) Research Center at School of agriculture (ISA) of the University of Lisbon, promoted on July 2, 2021, an action to publicize their investigation on recently improved pedestrian trails and cycle paths in Tapada da Ajuda, where are they based. CIFC (coffee leaf rust research center) was one of the research centers to participate in this outreach activity. Visitors of all ages had the chance to meet a coffee plant for the first time and taste some ripe coffee berries. This outdoor activity was an excellent opportunity to introduce to the general public the most important fungal coffee diseases and explain a little bit more about what is done in the lab.

CIFC (coffee leaf rust research center) was one of the participants of the Semana da Ciência e Tecnologia - The week of Science and Technology, promoted by the Ciência Viva Agency. The intention was to make the Portuguese scientists known what they research and their contributions to the advancement of knowledge, the promotion of scientific culture, progress and the well-being of society. The visitors of CIFC's stand have the chance to learn more about the diversity of the coffee plants, which have economic importance, and the major diseases that threaten the coffee crop production.
