When your child is absent due to illness or other unavoidable reasons, the school notification from parents/guardians explaining why your child is away. The Landing Trail School absentee phone line is available 24 hours at 780-923-2898, or parents can email the school at ltrail@sturgeon.ab.ca. Parents/guardians will be telephoned to ensure the child's safety if the school is not contacted regarding an absence. A report of the total days absent is on the Parent Portal of PowerSchool. Absentee reports may be periodically sent home. The student is responsible for catching up on work missed during an absence. Per AP905 - Student Attendance at School
Busing
Sturgeon Public Schools provides students at Landing Trail School with transportation for a fee. Please visit www.sturgeon.ab.ca/Transportation for more information.
Some general guidelines for riding buses are noted below:
Only students registered as passengers may ride on their assigned bus.
Students may be denied permission to ride a bus if they are not adequately clothed or possess adequate clothing during cold weather.
Disruptive and/or destructive behaviour is prohibited.
Students wishing to ride other than their assigned bus must receive permission from the driver and written permission from their parent/guardian.
Most luggage and equipment should be stored under the bus seat and in a durable case/bag at the driver's discretion.
Other bus rules also apply as provided by drivers at the beginning of each school year.
If you have bus concerns, please direct them first to the bus driver concerned. If necessary, contact Sturgeon Public Schools Transportation Department at 780-939-4341.
