This type of essay often only has a title without any prompts /guidance (ohjeistus). Sometimes the title is an idiom - make sure you understand it!
If you are a creative writer, this might be a good option for you. You should, however, make sure that your language is idiomatic and complex enough, otherwise your essay will be a dime in a dozen.
DOs:
be creative and personal
write an animated story
your language should nuanced
become one with your character
make the reader experience what happens
use ALL the senses: sight, sounds, touch, smell and taste
NOTE - pay attention to tenses. If you start your story: "It WAS a dark and stormy night", then you cannot switch to "I AM scared"
SUDENKUOPAT:
- vaihtelet preesensin ja menneisyyden aikamuotojen välillä
- sanasto on liian helppoa (jos tavoittelet 80-90 pisteen ainetta)
- tarina on tylsä/tavanomainen
How to create a good storyline:
Option 7
Autumn 2023:
Opettajan kommentti:
Tarkoituksena on kirjoittaa tarinaa eikä selittää, miten tarina menisi.
The villain as the hero
Take a well-known story and rewrite it, casting the villain as the hero. For example, how does Cinderella work from the perspective of the wicked stepmother, or, what would the story of Star Wars be like, if Darth Vader were the hero? Remember to mention what story you are rewriting.
Vastauksen pituus on enintään 1300 merkkiä. Ylityksestä seuraa pistevähennys.
Option 6
Spring 2021:
Opettajan kommentti:: These characteristics mark a story as a fairy tale:
It usually begins with “Once upon a time,” “Long ago,” or “Once there was a …”
The story takes place in a distant or make-believe land.
It features imaginary characters such as dragons, fairies, elves, and giants.
