Students should understand that they are responsible for completing their CAS programme according to the following guidelines:
• Key to a student’s CAS programme is personal engagement, choice and enjoyment of CAS experiences.
• Throughout the Diploma Programme students undertake a variety of CAS experiences on a weekly basis, for a minimum of 18 months.
• All three CAS areas should be in reasonable balance.
• Students must also undertake at least one CAS project with a minimum duration of one month.
Students reflect on CAS experiences monthly throughout CAS on their portfolio on Google sites where they will also put evidence.
CAS students are expected to:
• develop a clear understanding of CAS expectations and the purpose of CAS
• determine personal goals
• discuss plans for CAS experiences with the CAS adviser
• understand and apply the CAS stages where appropriate
• take part in a variety of experiences, some of which are self-initiated, and at least one CAS project
• become more aware of personal interests, skills and talents and observe how these evolve throughout the CAS programme
• provide documentation and evidence of CAS experiences (logbook, photos, videos, certificates, supervisor’s report etc.)
• understand the reflection process and identify suitable opportunities to reflect on CAS experiences
• demonstrate accomplishments within their CAS programme
• communicate with the CAS adviser and/or CAS supervisor in formal and informal meetings
• ensure a suitable balance between creativity, activity and service in their CAS programme
• behave appropriately and ethically in their choices and behaviours.
• inform CAS advisor about any changes or new experiences in CAS programmes. New experiences/changes have to be approved by the advisor before starting the experience. If students fail to do this, the experience is not counted as CAS.
• when starting service experiences and experiences requiring supervision, supervisors must be informed about CAS and what is expected of them. After the experience is completed student must ask the supervisor to fill the supervisor’s report either electronically (Managebac) or using the Supervisors report.
Maintain a CAS portfolio on Google sites and keep records of CAS experiences on Managebac
