HOME MATCH VOLUNTEERS
We use parent volunteers to line judge, keep score, track the libero, run the scoreboard and time out clock for all home matches. Each athlete will be required to have a parent/representative volunteer at least twice during the season.
Clock/Scoreboard (JV-V): Training will be provided on site. A volunteer will sit at the scorers table and enter the score on the gym scoreboard. Please arrive 30 minutes before game time to be trained on the clock/scoreboard.
Scorebook: It is recommended that we have just one or two scorekeepers for C and JV, as this task is complicated if you are new to volleyball. Scorekeepers should arrive 45 minutes before the start of the match. The WIAA offers training in a POWERPOINT, and here is a YouTube video to support it. Print these training worksheets to practice.
Libero Tracker: Libero trackers will sit at the scorers table with the other score volunteers. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to match time. A libero tracker will watch when each team uses their libero. Here is a training video.
Line Judge: We will need two line judges for each match. Line judges will arrive 30 minutes prior to the match to meet with the referees. Line judges will stand at each corner, calling the ball in or out, and if they see the ball touch the block. Here is a quick video showing the art of line-judging.
Announcer & Music: The announcer will work over the microphone, controlling the music, introducing line ups, and calling the match. Here is a sample announcer agenda.
