If you are part of a Law Enforcement agency (EPS, RCMP, or TPO/CSPO) please use this page for information regarding video requests.
Law Enforcement Video Exhibit Requests (Police and Peace Officers Only)
Audio Exhibit Requests
EPS must submit their own video request to receive any video from ETS. Transit Peace Officers are not authorized to release video. Please submit requests as soon as possible to avoid the risk of video being written over.
Footage being bookmarked does NOT mean it has been saved. Bookmarks are tags that help us find when and where an incident occurred.
Please assume that no one has requested the video already, as we do not save any footage unless an official request comes in. VSU is the only team that is authorized to save and release any ETS video. Additionally, every individual that requires footage must submit their own request in accordance with the ATIA & POPA guidelines and procedures.
Be as descriptive and accurate as possible to avoid delays in processing your request.
If incident information isn't provided, then techs will be required to reach out to find out this information. You can reference other file numbers, but must include event details yourself. Other files may not be available to VSU and would require additional communication, so to streamline this process, please provide the details of the event.
EPS
All video is released to EPS through Genetec Clearance. Exceptions will be made if Genetec Clearance is unavailable.
TPOs
Video can only be released to superintendents and investigators. An exception to release directly to TPOs is made if footage is required for court purposes or approved by the ETS Security Manager.
RCMP
Video will be released through Google Drive, or on a physical drive
A google drive link will be provided to the requesting member
If a physical drive is requested, then you are responsible for setting a date and time to pick up footage. VSU techs will reach out via email, so please be sure to respond and schedule this with them
The retention periods for ETS video are as follows:
LRT Train (Capital/Metro Line): 48 hours
LRT Train (Valley Line): 20 days
Bus CCTV (Interior & Exterior): 21 days
CCTV (Valley Line LRT Station): 20 days
CCTV (LRT Station & Transit Centres): 21 days
If you are with EPS and require assistance that is specific to Genetec, video access, or video playback, please reach out to VDESU@edmontonpolice.ca
If you have questions regarding your video request, reach out directly to the video tech assigned to your file. If you don't have this information, contact etssecurityadmin@edmonton.ca and your inquiry will be forwarded to the assigned video tech.
