Week 6: May 11-13

FACS Basics, Week #6

Learning Goal:

I can create a new sneaker design to fit a “clients” style.

Many times in the fashion industry, clients will hire a designer to create a garment. The client may have a specific idea of what they want and sometimes the client gives the designer more creative freedom. Every client is different. For this assignment, you will choose someone to act as the “client” and you will be the designer.

Estimated Time for The Week: 30 minutes

Learn & Practice:

  • Choose someone to be your “client”.
  • Interview them about their style.
    • What is their favorite color?
    • Would this sneaker be used for athletics or day-to-day?
    • What would you wear with this sneaker?
    • Are there any patterns they like?
  • Once you have interviewed your client, go to this LINK and choose a site that will allow you to design a sneaker to fit their style.
  • Once the sneaker is finished, show it to your “client” for feedback. Ask them what they like about it and how you would improve it. If there is time, go back and make the necessary adjustments for a final product.
  • Send a photo to your FACS teacher once you have completed the assignment. We want to celebrate your creativity!

Enrichment: Create a 3D image of your sneaker using the following TEMPLATE. Here is a VIDEO to show you how to build it.
