I have been teaching for quite a few years at this stage of my career, and realize the importance of student feedback and how I can leverage it to make the classroom experience positive. I carefully review the evaluations that I receive from students in my course and use it to improve my course structure and my teaching style for the future.
When I reviewed my student evaluations, it seems that I am a clear communicator who is easily approachable. Students appreciate my enthusiasm in the classroom regarding the course material. This energy carries over and makes them excited to learn new concepts. I am respectful of my students and accommodating in situations as needed. Here are my key strengths and weaknesses:
Communication and clarity of presentation
Effective use of teaching aids in the classroom
Subject knowledge and enthusiasm
Feedback and responsiveness
Course-material clarity
Pacing of instruction
Assessments and their alignment with lectures
I am outlining what I have done to improve on the weaknesses and to make sure that my courses are improving every time I iterate on them.
Revised my course materials to make them more accessible. This involved re-making lecture videos, and re-designing slides and in-class assignments.
Re-organizing course materials within Canvas and WAMAP shells, so things are intuitive to discover and easier to interact with.
I am in the process of going over all of my course videos to make sure that they align with the problems that they are linked with.
Revisiting my quizzes and tests and comparing them to my practice assessments and lecture materials to improve their alignment.
