Faculty and Staff of Color Conference
My involvement with the Faculty and Staff of Color Conference has been profoundly meaningful, serving as an annual lifeline that deeply enhances my growth as an educator. This gathering provides a unique space to recharge and reconnect with a community that understands the shared challenges and triumphs of navigating educational spaces as a person of color.
Each year, the conference renews my commitment to equity and excellence, equipping me with fresh perspectives and innovative approaches that directly benefit my students. It deepens my empathy, sharpens my understanding of systemic issues, and strengthens my ability to create inclusive and supportive learning environments.
This experience fortifies my passion for teaching and allows me to bring renewed energy and purpose back to the classroom. By continually engaging in this professional and personal development, I am better prepared to guide, inspire, and empower my students, ensuring their success aligns with Edmonds College’s mission to foster equity and excellence.
Delegation to India
Participating in the Delegation to India event has been one of the most enriching and transformative experiences of my life, both professionally and personally. This unique opportunity allowed me to deeply engage with the cultural, social, and educational practices related to addiction treatment in India, significantly broadening my global perspective. It deepened my understanding of holistic approaches to addiction treatment, an area that directly aligns with my passion for promoting wellness in my work as an educator and clinician.
This experience benefited me not only by enhancing my knowledge but also by strengthening my ability to incorporate cross-cultural learning into my courses. It has provided me with valuable insights that I am eager to share with my students, enriching their learning experience and helping them develop a more comprehensive, global perspective on addiction treatment.
In addition to expanding my teaching practice, the connections I made with colleagues from diverse backgrounds have opened meaningful pathways for collaboration, which I continue to nurture. These connections support my ongoing goal of fostering inclusivity and diversity in the classroom and beyond. This event aligns closely with Edmonds College's mission to promote global engagement and holistic education, enhancing my role as an educator and supporting our collective vision of creating a more inclusive and informed community.
I would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Singh for supporting my participation in this event and for providing invaluable guidance throughout the approval process. I am forever grateful for this opportunity.
