2023 Political Science Session
These posters are part of a culminating project in Political Science 202 - US Government for Spring 2023, supervised by Robin Datta (rdatta@edmonds.edu).
In this project, students link links course content with a current public policy issue related to their areas of academic or vocational interest and explore Constitutional questions related to their policy, the role of public opinion, policy stakeholders, and policymaking in shaping policy, and the impact of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches.
Aaliyah Wright
This poster explores the changing public opinion landscape of reproductive rights after the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization (2022) and considers factors affecting justice and Civil Rights.
Aimee Le
This poster explore issues in the US healthcare system and assesses arguments about health care and health insurance; including the politics surrounding the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (2010).
Maddie Rock
This poster offers an international comparison of rates of gun violence and explores the legal and cultural landscape in the US. Emphasis is on the impact of the Bruen decision of 2022.
Morgan Maloney
This poster explores the Federal Government's role in improving educational outcomes in the nation's schools, including funding and compensation, and equitable distribution of resources. It reviews policy from the Bush through the Biden Administrations.
Oluchi Nzekwe
The poster explores the legislative and policy impact of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization (2022) with an emphasis on the emerging differences between state policy.
