1. Set up an FSA ID (click for quick video)for both the student attending college and one (1) parent. (Aug.- Sept)
2. Gather Financial Documents. (Class of 2020- You will need 2018 tax info)
3. Compete the FAFSA! (Beginning October1st)
4. When you are finished a screen will appear that says....Congratulations! Your FAFSA is complete. You are not done yet!!!
5. Click on the "Answer NJ Questions", and complete a few more questions.
6. You will receive your results including your EFC. This number will determine your eligibility for aid.
7. You may need to verify your answers. This process includes sending a tax transcript. If you did not file taxes in 2018, you may also need a non-filing statement.
8. Make sure that you have sent the FAFSA to each school you applied to. They will then send an Award Letter detailing the financial aid you are eligible for. See a counselor if you do not understand this letter!
