Shared Writing Journal

I always recommend starting a journal with your children.

Take turns responding to fiction, nonfiction, & persuasive prompts. It can be a couple sentences or even a paragraph (but keep it somewhat short).

    • Children learn from models - when they can see what you write, they learn from it and their writing will get stronger!

Add small pictures/drawings to make it more interesting.

Comment & give feedback on each other's writing.

    • Share your own thoughts about the topic.
    • Give suggestions for how to make the writing better (stronger words, better grammar, different organization, etc.).

This can be done as often as you want - every day, every couple days, every week. Make it work for you!
