SEL Spotlight: EMS and Ms. Beci Wiggins

Edgewood Middle School is currently covering topics from Ohio's 5 SEL competencies including self awareness, self management, social awareness, building relationships, and responsible decision making in their EdgeTime once a month. This month the topic was Rights and Responsibilities.

Ms. Wiggins does an amazing job relating the topics to things the students already know and helping them through the new pieces. In the lesson I watched she made connections to PBIS and other school incentives currently happening at Edgewood Middle School.

Building Resilience in our Students

Resilience is the capacity to recover from difficulties. We all experience difficulties in life, from everyday challenges to significant sources of stress like a serious illness, trauma, or the loss of loved one. While many of life’s adverse events cause pain and suffering, they also are opportunities for growth. SEL Community Night

The SEL Community night was a great success! Over 30 venders were here to provide information and offer support and resources to our Edgewood families on general safety, wellness, and mental wellness. Families walked away with information on how to get connected with the amazing partnerships and resources that Edgewood City Schools is connected with.
