As we move into semester 2 the SEL department has big plans! When we return from the Holiday Break, look for the We Are EDGEWOOD Initiative. This movement is to promote our newly agreed on district PBIS Common Language (Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe #TogEther ) to continue to improve the culture of our buildings, and share the successes of our students.
Early in the semester all students and staff will receive a video message sharing the We Are EDGEWOOD initiative. Soon after every student and staff member will sign their name on a cougar paw. These paws will then be placed around a banner in each building.
#Together
Team building is any action or method, which brings a group together and motivates them to work collaboratively. The purpose of any team-building exercise is to build a stronger unit. Team building has many benefits such as it improves productivity, increases motivation, encourages collaboration and builds trust and respect among. Consider starting second semester with some Team Building Activities with your students to promote a positive and collaborative learning environment.
Second Semester look for Hope Squad to be starting in both EMS and EHS. Chris Stratton, Tara Hunt, and Summer Brown are advising the EMS Hope Squad while Jessica Hollinger and Cari Vangen will be working with the EHS Hope Squad.
Also starting in January, the newly purchased SEL curriculum will be implemented in 4 of the 5 buildings. The curriculum is currently being used monthly at our Middle School during EdgeTime and will soon be embedded into Media Center time at the elementary buildings. We are excited to partner with Rachael Fryman and her team on this project!
