Why is email etiquette important?
Email etiquette will establish professionalism, better communication, and help to build strong relationships. Here are a few etiquette reminders:
Maintain a professional tone.
Avoid vague or empty subject lines.
Use proper email punctuation.
Practice good grammar.
Avoid text lingo.
Avoid emojis.
Choose your email salutation carefully.
Leave a professional impression with your email sign-off.
Check the recipient's name.
Use sentence case.
Check the tone. Be professional.
ALWAYS use standard fonts and formatting. Edgewood ISD requires Sans Serif normal font for all email communication.
Use REPLY and not REPLY ALL.
Reply to all emails.
Structure your response properly.
SIGNATURE LINE & CONFIDENTIALITY STATEMENT
This signature card will need to be added to your Google Email Account.
Click here: Canva Signature Card Template
Immediately make a copy of the template.
Fill in your information: Name, Title, Extension, and Email Address
Download the new signature card to your computer by clicking Share, then Download as a .jpg
Once the download is complete, open your Google Email Account
Click on the gear at the top of the page above your messages
Choose SEE ALL SETTINGS
Under the GENERAL tab, scroll down to SIGNATURE
In your signature box, delete everything above your confidentiality statement. As a REMINDER... you must have a confidentiality statement.
Click the INSERT IMAGE button
Click UPLOAD
Select a file from your device
Once the file is in your signature box
Click on the card and choose LARGE
Make sure under signature defaults the appropriate signature is selected in both for new emails use and on reply/forward use
Click the box and turn on the insert signature before quoted text in replies...
SCROLL ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE AND CLICK SAVE!!
