Whether you adore every contest you see or occasionally find one that intrigues you, you might check this page for information on contests relevant to ELA (English Language Arts). Of course, we all know that ELA relates to basically everything, so who knows what you might find here! Scroll through the entries below, which we will update periodically, and see what piques your interest. Then, if you find a contest you'd like to enter, click on the link, follow whatever instructions are given, and submit your contest entries! Please let us know any results, too.

Lifting Up Westchester's "7th Annual Student Essay Contest," to run from Nov. 6 - Feb. 16, 2024. This year's topic is "Walking in Someone Else's Shoes," and students are asked "to learn about the different programs offered by Lifting Up Westchester [through provided links] and to write a narrative [of 750 to 1,000 words] about someone who accessed and benefited from one of those programs." The New York Times's "How to ... : An Informational Writing Contest for Teenagers," to run from Jan. 10 - Feb. 14, 2024. "We [the NYT staff] invite students to explain how to do any task in 400 words or fewer." Please click here for further information.
