Counseling Department

The Edgemont Counseling Department plays a critical role in supporting the goals presented in the District’s mission statement. We share the responsibility of enhancing student learning by creating a student-centered, nurturing environment that promotes ethical behavior, respect, and social conscience, while cultivating individuality and self-esteem.

Our approach is multifaceted and supports the academic, social, and emotional development of the whole person, throughout all stages of development. Critical to our success is the collaboration among all members of the school community: junior and senior high school counselors, school psychologists, teachers, administrators, students, parents/guardians, and community organizations. We consistently strive to be proactive and to assist students in acquiring life-long learning skills in a safe, non-judgmental environment where students are encouraged to challenge themselves. In such an atmosphere, students can learn to make informed decisions, develop independence, and approach the future confidently and as their own best advocates.
