• The Canberra Tree Week 2026 poster competition is now open. It is open to all ACT school students aged 5 to 12 years. Entries close Sunday 29 May 2026.

• For over a decade Canberra has been celebrating tree week every autumn with a program of community events.

• Canberra Tree Week provides an opportunity for the community to learn about trees and the many benefits they provide, participate in a variety of activities, and connect with local community and environmental groups.

• This year’s theme is "Why are trees important?" We’re inviting young artists to use their imagination and bring their artwork to life showing the importance of trees in our environment.

• Winning entries will receive a certificate and a tree donated by Yarralumla Nursery. Their artwork will be displayed in a special outdoor exhibition during Canberra Tree Week 2026 at the Australian National Botanic Gardens.
