Students must actively seek an understanding of their obligations in complying with legislative requirements such as copyright and privacy.

 

Principle 8     Promotion of responsible research practices

•    Promote a research culture and environment that supports the responsible conduct of research.


Scenarios

Your student wants to make a short film which is a parody of 'Frozen'. What should you do?

Your student wants to exhibit a series of images of students taken in the street photography style in corridors of the school on their public website. What do you do?

Your student wants to make videos in the style of 'Bad Lip Reading-Seagulls' using current music videos. What do you say? 

 Your student has left the filled out questionnaires with student details laying about in the hallway. What do you do? 

You hear that your student has been encouraging students to subvert the ethical research guidelines and get generative AI to fabricate data for them.  What do you do?

Guidelines


Students should be open about their ethical approach to research. Students should provide advice and guidance to others on ethical research approaches when it is sought.

Students should speak out against unethical approaches when they observe them, or suspect they are occurring.
