Course and Frameworks already refer to element of Research Ethics, particularly in relation to the honest referencing of research material.  Also, achievement standards reference research skills and other methodological processes, which of course should be undertaken ethically.  In addition, some courses and standards also make specific references to the exploration of legal and ethical issues in the process of generating and creating knowledge within the discipline, e.g. copyright, homage, open-mindedness, interrogating own biases.

• Research widely and independently, synthesising information to justify complex ideas, using appropriate evidence and applying the principles of academic integrity

Business A/T/M

• Synthesise business knowledge and understanding and research skills, using relevant business sources critically, and employs academic integrity

• Analyse ethical and sustainability factors in marketing

Data Science A/T/M

•  Justify ideas coherently using appropriate evidence and accurate referencing

•  Critically analyse ethical and sustainable considerations in the design and practice of data science

Religious Studies A/T/M

• communicate their understanding of spiritualities and beliefs using accurate referencing and relevant evidence from a variety of sources, including original texts

Physics T

• Design investigations, including the procedure to be followed, the materials required, and the type and amount of primary and/or secondary data to be collected; conduct risk assessments; and consider research ethics

Designed Environments A/T/M

• analyse ethical and sustainable considerations in the application of environment design

•  justify ideas coherently using appropriate evidence and accurate referencing

English T

• Create a range of texts using appropriate referencing, for example, footnotes, in-line citations and reference lists

Science Achievement Standards

•  evaluates processes and claims, and provides a critique based on evidence, and evaluates alternatives

• communicates concisely, effectively and accurately, with scientific literacy in a range of modes, representations, and genres for specific audiences and purposes, and accurate referencing

Examine the content descriptions and achievement standards in courses that you currently teach for references to:

• academic integrity

• research methodologies

• plagiarism and referencing

• disciplinary ethics

Write a paragraph about what is already expected in terms of academic integrity and a good understanding of disciplinary research methods.
