Hi, I’m Mr. Evans, and I am passionate about supporting students in achieving their personal, academic, and social goals. As the school counselor, I strive to create a welcoming, positive, and safe environment where every student feels valued and heard. My role is to guide students through their challenges and help them develop the skills they need to navigate both school and life successfully.
My Background
This is my second year at Earlham as the secondary school counselor. My journey in school counseling is driven by my belief in the power of relationships and the importance of understanding each student's unique story. I received my M.A. in School Counseling at the University of Iowa, which has equipped me with the tools to provide compassionate, student-centered care.
My Counseling Approach
I take a collaborative and strengths-based approach to counseling, drawing upon Rogerian Person-Centered Counseling and Solution-Focused Counseling to meet the diverse needs of students. My counseling practice is rooted in empathy, respect, and a deep commitment to helping students discover their inner strengths. I believe that every student is capable of growth, and my role is to empower them to find their own solutions and build resilience.
How I Can Help
Whether students are facing challenges related to academic pressure, social dynamics, or personal growth, I am here to listen, support, and provide guidance. Some of the areas I assist with include:
Academic advising and study strategies
Social and peer relationships
Managing stress and emotions
Conflict resolution
College and career planning
Developing self-confidence and resilience

I’m a huge fan of gaming. In my free time I like building mechanical keyboards and custom gaming computers!
My favorite part of being a school counselor is getting to know each student and seeing them grow throughout the year.
