Track the different ways your PTA generates income by recording, who, when, how they donated.
All of your fundraising efforts are often associated to specific fundraising activities, which we call campaigns in Salesforce. Any income record can be associated to a Campaign record, which lets you track how much you have raised. A campaign could be an Easter Fair, Disco Night, Fancy Dress Day.
Within Salesforce you can create campaign hierarchies, so you create a Parent Campaign called Easter Fair and then child campaigns Easter Fair 2017 and Easter Fair 2018 for example.
Any Income record can be attributed to a General Accounting Unit. A GAU could represent what you are fundraising for, so you could set up a GAU for new computers, or outdoor classroom, or swimming pool.
