The following document is from the IB
The video contains information about using digital tools such as spell checkers, grammar checkers and AI
Key things to note
Spell checkers - Except for in subjects where spelling is being assessed it is ok to use a spell checker in a piece of work.
Grammar checkers - Except for in subjects where grammar is being assessed it is usually ok to use a grammar checker in a piece of work
More complex grammar checkers - It is usually ok for grammar checkers to make suggestions to improve the sentence structure (except in subjects where grammar is being assessed) but if the changes make the argument more coherent then this could be considered academic misconduct. It is never ok to ask an AI to rewrite all or part of the work
AI paraphrasing - There are AI that automatically paraphrases text from a different source for you. The process of paraphrasing text to fit your argument is an important academic skill. Text which is automatically paraphrased cannot be considered to be in your own work so this is not ok. The use of a paraphrasing tool would be considered academic misconduct.
AI as a reference tool - AI can be used as a reference tool but in most circumstances, it should not be used as it is not reliable. If it is used then all work that the AI produces whether the use is a direct quotation or paraphrasing must be cited and referenced. The video shows how to do this
