In all matters of academic malpractice, wherever possible, the school will ensure that the issue is dealt with in a manner which allows the student to learn and grow from the situation.
The school's academic integrity policy states the following
'In cases where students are found to have been involved in academic malpractice, the teacher involved in the incident and the relevant assistant principal / head of maturité will convene the student and the student’s parents to issue an official warning which will be placed on file. This opportunity should be used judiciously to discuss the issue at hand and to ensure clear understanding of all aspects of the case.'
The outcome of these meetings are likely to be different in different situations but there are some situations where we need to maintain consistent approaches.
We are always obliged to notify the external exams provider of any malpractice in any work which is being submitted to them
For a first offence for that school year
In the case of draft work, the student will have given up the right to have written feedback on the work
In the case of the final piece of work, where possible, the student will be placed in an internal suspension to restart the work and complete it under supervision
For students who have previously been involved in acdemic malpractice during that school year
The appropriate assistant principal / head of maturité will consult with the principal to decide on the appropriate action. Usually this will be non-submission of that component of the course
Note, in all situations we will regard the use of a third party to produce work for the student as being very serious and will make decisions accordingly
