The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is the world's leading youth achievement programme.
Since the Award Programme was introduced at Campus des Nations, hundreds of our students have achieved awards. The Award started in the UK in 1956 and it is estimated that more than 8 million young people in more than 100 countries have been motivated to undertake the Award. The award is for young people between the ages of 14 and 25, hundreds of thousands of whom who are presently participating in the award around the world. Participating students will follow compulsory trainings to take part to mountain expeditions (first aid, orientation, map reading, set up a camp etc.).
The Award concept is one of individual challenge. It presents to young people a balanced, non-competitive programme of voluntary activities which encourages personal discovery and growth, self-reliance, perseverance, responsibility to themselves and service to their community.”
The Award is a programme of cultural, practical and adventurous activities. The Award and the IB CAS components as well as the Community and Service programme have much in common and can be operated in conjunction with each other. The Award is non-competitive; available to all (subject to age and logistical limitations); voluntary; flexible; balanced; progressively challenging; valuable; enjoyable.
