EcoHope Mozambique was founded with a dream: to empower youth and communities to lead the charge for a sustainable and resilient future. Through innovation, education, and collaboration, we tackle some of the greatest challenges facing our world today.
EcoHope Mozambique began in 2024 when Célio Monteiro José, the Founder, received seed funding from the Aspire Leaders Program. With this support, Célio, along with Mendonça Cacholote Nareia Júnior and Osvaldo João Hale, launched a small eco-club in the Centro-Hípico neighborhood in Chimoio.
Starting with just 15 children and young people, the eco-club focused on training participants in waste management and recycling, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.
Later that same year, the team secured two additional small grants that enabled EcoHope to:
Expand the Green Generation Project to schools, reaching over 200 children in 6 different schools with environmental education programs.
Launch the Planting Prosperity Project, benefiting over 40 participants in Manica Province, transforming over 5 hectares of land into a model of sustainable agriculture.
Youth Leadership
We believe in the potential of youth to drive meaningful change and create innovative solutions for environmental challenges.
Sustainability
Our work is rooted in sustainable agriculture, waste management, and environmental education to ensure a better tomorrow.
Community Empowerment
By providing tools, knowledge, and resources, we help communities thrive while fostering resilience against climate challenges.
