Have empty cereal boxes at home?? Do not put them in the trash or recycle just yet! Use the back of the box to complete a word search or letter search with your child. Cut the sides of the box for them to practice cutting. You can also use the front and complete a visual memory activity. Talk about the front of the box, what pictures are on it, letters, colors, etc. Then flip it over and have your child try to recall as many things about the box that they can. If they are working on printing words, have them try to write down what they remember.
Choose a letter or word and have your child try to scan and locate all of them! If they lose their place when scanning, use another piece of paper to cover up half the box/page.
Cut off the sides of the box and draw straight lines so your child can practice cutting. Also practice cutting shapes if they are able (square, triangle, and circle)
What kinds of berries/fruits were on the box? Discuss what letter was on the front, what colors, was the fruit on the left or right of the bowl? Was the spoon empty or full?
