The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a paraprofessional certified in behavior analysis.

Practice under the direction and close supervision of a BCBA, RBT Supervisor, and/or an RBT Requirements Coordinator

As the clinician working directly with the client and individuals in their environment, it is important you are prepared for questions and conversations that will arise.
Remember your role!
Have some scripts prepared
Remember, it is ok to NOT know the answer!
Potential Scripts:
"I will check with my supervisor and let you know"
"That is helpful information. Let me run it by my supervisor and I can let you know."
"That would be great to bring up when my supervisor is here."
"I will connect with my supervisor and get back to you by the next session"
When something feels uncomfortable, discuss it with your supervisor!

All communication must be professional
You may not be social media friends with clients, or family members related to the clients, and no sooner than 2 years after services have stopped.
Meet the client where they are at for that session
Protect their values when they can not
Maintain Respect
Maintain privacy and confidentiality
Communicate effectively and professional
Offer choices and acknowledge protests
Show an awareness and support of the client's views, beliefs, values, and opinions.
This training program is based on the RBT Task List (2nd ed.) and is designed to meet the 40-hour training requirements for RBT Certification. The program is offered independently of the BACB.
